Where'd our route go?

We hiked up to the top of this snowfield and inspected a rock/snow gully. Toby thought we could get up it. I agreed, but a few other things worried me.
1) What if we got up but couldn't get down the other side. (on the map there was cliff potential) Could we come back down this?
2) The area was socked in clouds and snowing. The footing was getting more dangerous by the minute.
3) The snow was frozen. If you started sliding, you wouldn't stop until you hit rocks.
4) We had a helmet and ice axe in the car, but elected not to bring them. It was beginning to sound like a makings of a Medred article.
