Cory's Photo Gallery Winter 2004 Spring Skiing Glen Alps Crust Ski aab.jpg

I don't recommend trying this route because the traverse around Avalanche Mountain includes a fair amount of bushwacking through Alder thicket and crossing avalanche run-outs. There is also the possibility that you won't be able to get down from Powerline Pass because of the large cornice created by snow blowing through the pass. We were lucky to find a do-able route through the cornice and onto the headwall, which was a very firm crust, and we skied down. In less than rock-hard snow conditions this is a very risky route. Even though things were hard and stable when we were there, I was very uncomfortable at times - you just never know.
