We started at the south trailhead and went north. A lot of people recommend going North to South, but I thought the opposite way would make for smoother riding. Plus there more elevation gain when you head north. The first few miles of the trail are next to Trail Lake, which was in full Autumn color. The only bad part about this section was that we ran into about 25 trees down across the trail.
